Horse Clippers & Shears – Everything for Clipping Season

Is your horse's coat getting thick again, and are they sweating after every training session? Then it's time for horse clippers. Whether it's a full clip for competitions or a subtle trace clip for leisure riders – here you'll find the right equipment for a clean, stress-free clip.

Our range includes clippers, shears, and accessories from Aesculap, KERBL, Clipster, Premiere, and many other brands. Also available are clipper blades in various cutting lengths, thinning and mane shears, and everything you need for machine maintenance.

Which Clippers are Right for You and Your Horse?

Choosing the right horse clippersdepends on a few factors: How often do you clip? Does your horse have problems with loud noises? Do you need a cordless machine or is a corded model sufficient?

  • Large Corded Clippers– powerful, durable, perfect for full clips of thick winter coats.
  • Cordless Clippers– wireless and flexible, ideal for stalls without outlets or on the go.
  • Quiet Models– a blessing for sensitive or young horses that get nervous from the noise of regular machines.
  • Small Detail Clippers– for the head, ears, fetlocks, and all areas where precision is required.

If you're unsure which model suits you: just send us a message in the chat. We offer honest advice – and we'll even tell you if the cheaper model is perfectly sufficient for your needs.

Don't Forget Shears, Blades, and Accessories

Clippers are only as good as their blades. That's why we also offer matching clipper blades in various cutting lengths – from the very short competition clip to a gentler version that leaves a bit of hair. For manes, tails, and fine details on the legs, good horse shearsare also worthwhile.

For the maintenance of your machine, you'll find oil, cleaning sprays, and spare parts in clipper accessories. Regular oiling and keeping the blades clean will ensure your device lasts a long time – and provides a pleasant clipping experience for your horse.

After Clipping: Correctly Blanketing Your Horse

If you clip, you must blanket. Without its natural winter coat, your horse now needs support – depending on the weather, with a cooler rugafter training or a warming turnout rugfor outdoors. Remember: better one blanket too many in the cupboard than a freezing horse in the paddock.

Frequently Asked Questions About Horse Clippers

When should I clip my horse?

As soon as their winter coat becomes so thick that your horse sweats heavily after training and dries slowly. This is usually the case from October onwards. A second clip at the end of December/beginning of January can be useful if the coat grows back vigorously.

What is the right cutting length?

That depends on how much your horse works and whether it spends a lot of time outdoors. For leisure horses, a trace clip or bib clip is often sufficient. Sport horses in daily training benefit from a full clip – but then require consistent blanketing.

Are there really quiet clippers?

Yes. There are models with particularly low-noise motors and low vibration. While these are often a bit more expensive, they are worth their weight in gold if your horse is sensitive to noise. Just ask us in the chat which ones are currently recommended.

How do I properly care for my clippers?

Oil regularly during clipping (every few minutes), clean the blades in between, and dust off after use. This keeps the cutting performance constant and significantly extends the lifespan.

Can I have clipper blades resharpened?

Generally, yes – dull blades pull at the hair instead of cutting, which is uncomfortable for the horse. Many manufacturers offer a sharpening service. Alternatively, you can replace the clipper head with a new one.
