Buy halters and lead ropes for horses online
With a lead rope, you can gently guide your horse and give it subtle cues. You maintain control without restricting the horse's freedom of movement. In addition to lead ropes, you can also use tie ropes to securely tie up your horse in certain situations. We have summarized for you here which rope you need when and what you should consider when choosing and using them.
Tie ropes: How to best secure your horse
There are always situations where you need to tie up your horse securely. For this, you should choose a good spot with a non-slip ground and, if possible, allow a view of other horses. For tying up a horse, we offer special tie ropes in our shop that are attached to the halter ring with a panic snap.
What are panic snaps and what are they used for?
When tying up your horse, you should always pay attention to safety. For attaching the rope to the halterthere are either normal snap hooks or so-called panic snaps. The panic snap is designed so that it can be easily opened in tricky situations, for example, if your horse suddenly panics and is at risk of strangling itself on the rope.
With a panic snap, you pull the wide piece in the middle downwards to open it. Even under tension, this hook can still be opened easily. When buying a tie rope with a panic snap, you should pay attention to good quality so that the rope does not break under tension and your horse cannot break free.

When choosing a tie rope, you should pay particular attention to the material. This should be easy to knot and just as easy to untie – even under tension. You should only use safety knots for tying up your horse. We offer tie ropes with panic snaps in various designs, for example, from our manufacturer Waldhausen.
The ropes are braided and therefore particularly stable. Matching halters are also available, or you can opt directly for a halter set that includes both the halter and the tie rope. Our manufacturer Eskadron also has tie ropes in its range, available in many different colors and always matching the current collections. Lead ropes for relaxed walks with your horse
If you want to walk your horse or lead it to the riding arena, you need a lead rope. This is usually attached to the halter not with a panic snap, but with a snap hook. The snap hook does not come undone so easily, and you don't have to worry about your horse suddenly breaking loose in the field. For very skittish horses, a lunge line is the right choice for leading the horse.
What is the difference between a lead rope and a lead chain?
Some horses tend to be easily startled in certain situations and want to break free. With the help of a lead chain, you get a little more control over the animal in these situations and can prevent accidents and injuries in an emergency. The lead chain is hooked under the chin on the halter and pulled from the outside inwards through the ring on the left side of the noseband. As soon as you pull on the rope, the chain tightens and puts pressure on the chin and nose. This allows you to control your horse more easily in dangerous situations.
We offer lead chains in our shop from our manufacturer Eskadron. The chain with brass finish is attached to a tear-resistant polypropylene yarn and is secured to the halter with a snap hook.
Correct application of the lead chain is mandatoryIf the lead chain is applied incorrectly, for example, by being passed through the mouth, this can cause pain to your horse. The animals then react even more panicky by headshaking and break free all the more.
