Shetlands usually range between 75 and 105 cm. Measure from the center of the chest to the tail and round up if in doubt. This way, the blanket sits comfortably without pinching.

Does a pony even need a blanket in winter?

Healthy ponies with winter coats and shelter often do without. Clipped, old, or ailing animals, however, appreciate a warm blanket. You know your pony best.

What grammage is right?

A light filling is sufficient for mild days, a bit more for transitional periods, and a really warm blanket for deep winter. In the stable, it can usually be less than in the pasture.
