Supplementary feed for your horse's joints, tendons & muscles

Are you looking for supplementary feed for your horse's jointsbecause it no longer comes out of the stable as easily as it used to? Or do you want to optimally support your young horse during development? When it comes to the musculoskeletal system, prevention always pays off – whether for a leisure companion, competition partner or senior. Here you will find exactly the feeds that specifically supply joints, tendons and muscles.

Why the musculoskeletal system needs extra support

Every horse that is ridden stresses its joints, tendons and ligaments day after day. In young horses in training, new tissue is constantly being formed, which requires building blocks. In older horses, the body's own production of joint fluid and cartilage substances decreases. And sport horses in the show jumping arena or dressage arena? They are well aware of the issue anyway.

With the right feed, you can start right here – with active ingredients that the body can directly use for cartilage, synovia and muscles. If you want to work on the outside at the same time, suitable boots & fetlock bootsor bandageshelp to additionally protect the legs.

MSM, Glucosamine & Hyaluronic Acid – the classics in joint feed

Three active ingredients keep reappearing when it comes to horse joints – and for good reason:

  • MSM(organic sulfur): important for cartilage, tendons and hoof quality, provides supportive effects during stress and regeneration
  • Glucosamine: building block for cartilage and joint fluid, often combined with chondroitin
  • Hyaluronic acid: ensures the suppleness of the joint fluid – important for sport and senior horses
  • Green-lipped mussel & devil's claw: herbal classics to support mobility
  • Silicic acid & collagen: strengthen connective tissue, tendons and ligaments

In our range you will find products from NURA Horse Supplements, Stiefel, Alpurial, Waldhausen, NAFand other brands – pure, combined or as a complete mix.

Which joint feed suits which horse?

Young horse in development

During growth and initial training, many new structures are formed. Here, feeds with silicic acid, collagen and moderate amounts of MSM are useful to support tendons and ligaments during development.

Sport and competition horse

Regular high strain requires regeneration aids. Hyaluronic acid and glucosamine keep the joint fluid supple, MSM supports after intensive sessions. Always pay attention to the indication "suitable for competition" or ADMR compliant.

Senior horse

For older horses, every day with easy movement counts. Combination preparations of glucosamine, chondroitin, hyaluronic acid and herbs such as devil's claw are often the first choice here.

Acceptance and dosage – that makes everyday life easy

What's the point of the best feed if it stays in the trough? Our supplementary feeds are formulated so that horses generally accept them well – as pellets, powder or liquid. Dosing is usually done with a measuring spoon and is quickly done in the stable everyday.

Tip: Start with a course of 6–8 weeks, then you can best assess whether your horse benefits from it. If you feed comprehensively, also take a look at supplementary feedsin general or at mineral feed & vitaminsfor daily basic care.

Frequently asked questions about supplementary feed for joints

Which supplementary feed is good for horse joints?

Combinations of MSM, glucosamine and hyaluronic acid are proven, often supplemented with green-lipped mussel or devil's claw. Which product is best suited depends on your horse's age, workload and history.

How long does it take for joint feed to work?

Plan at least 4–8 weeks until you see changes. Cartilage and tendon tissue needs time to react to additional building blocks.

Can I feed MSM and hyaluronic acid at the same time?

Yes, both active ingredients complement each other well. Many combination preparations already contain them together. Stick to the manufacturer's instructions for dosage.

Is joint feed allowed for competition horses?

Most products are ADMR-compliant and suitable for competition – if in doubt, check the packaging or product details. If you are unsure, a quick check with your vet will help.

Do young horses already need joint feed?

Young horses benefit from silicic acid and collagen for the development of tendons and ligaments. Classic joint feed with glucosamine is usually only useful from middle age or with specific stress.
