Spurs – fine assistance for clear signals

Are you looking for spurs that really suit you and your horse? Then you've come to the right place. We offer them in many lengths and designs – from short spurs for sensitive horses to longer models for refined dressage work. Whether you're enjoying a relaxed hack or collecting points in the arena.

What spurs can do – and when you need them

Spurs are not a means of coercion, but a tool for clear, subtle aids. With the right spur, you can specifically support your leg aid without constantly pressing on the horse. There's only one important thing: spurs belong to calm, independently seated legs. If your seat is stable and you can dose your aids precisely, the right spurs will help you give even more accurate signals. Your horse will often understand you with the slightest leg pressure.

Finding the right spur length

What length is right for you? That depends on you, your horse, and your discipline. As a rough guide, you can follow these recommendations:

  • Short spur:ideal for sensitive horses and for riders who are just starting with spurs.
  • Medium spur:the all-rounder for daily work in the arena and out in the open.
  • Long spur:for experienced riders who want to apply very precise and pinpoint aids.

When in doubt: it's better to start with a shorter length. You can gradually feel your way – and your horse will thank you for it.

Brands & Material

We make no compromises on quality. You will find spurs from Sprenger, Waldhausen and Stübben SteelTec– as well as other selected brands. Many models are made of rust-proof stainless steel: easy to care for, durable, and still in top shape even after countless hours in the stable. You can get the matching spur strapsright along with them.

Frequent questions about spurs

What is the difference between neck spurs and wheel spurs?

Neck spurs have a fixed neck as an end piece, while wheel spurs have a rotating wheel. They have a more punctual and direct effect, while wheel spurs are softer and more extensive. Which variant is better depends on your horse and your influence.

Are spurs suitable for beginners?

Generally yes – but only once your seat is secure and your legs are still. It's best to start with a short neck and gradually feel your way.

Which spurs are allowed in competitions?

This is regulated by the respective competition rules. Before starting, simply take a look at the current FN regulations for your discipline – that way you'll be on the safe side.

Whether it's a relaxed evening ride or ambitious dressage work: with the right spurs, you give subtle, clear aids and strengthen the connection with your horse. Are you unsure about your choice?
