A horse without a rider is always a horse. A rider without a horse is just a human.
But together they are one! In this context, we had the opportunity to test the bit ‘Novocontact with flat rings‘. The new Novocontact bits feature a unique, oval bit shape designed so that with light rein pressure, a broad surface rests firmly on the tongue.
Only with increased rein pressure does the mouthpiece rotate forward. At this moment, the contact area temporarily decreases, allowing for particularly effective aids. This supports optimal communication and paves the way for an improved connection between horse and rider.
We ordered the bit for Valentino’s Vräulein. She is an 8-year-old German Riding Pony mare who tends to lean on the hand and does not want to carry herself. With this bit, we wanted to counteract that and were grateful to test it thanks to Sprenger and Kavalio – with positive results!
Of course, a bit alone cannot change the horse or replace good and correct riding.
However, we noticed that she became a bit finer through the bit and it became noticeably easier to ride her off the hand. Visually, the bit is also a real eye-catcher: The combination of gold and silver elements always looks great, typical of Sprenger!
Vräulein has a very narrow, small mouth, but the 11.5cm Size fit her perfectly. She looks very content and we can highly recommend this bit to you. Quality and fit are, as always, guaranteed with all bits.
Especially for horses that tend to get strong, this bit is a great alternative. Since the mouthpiece is firmly attached to the ring, this bit lies particularly quietly in the horse’s mouth and allows for more targeted and direct influence on the tongue compared to the Loose Ring Snaffle. Thanks to the soft transitions to the side pieces, it is also particularly gentle on the corners of the mouth, which is great for more sensitive horses.
We hope we could give you a little insight!
